The Details
The transaction pairs AREP’s development platform with Brookfield’s global investment scale. The companies said the partnership will support AREP as it expands its investment and development business across its core markets and asset classes.
AREP co-founder and president Brian Katz described Brookfield as a partner that can add global experience and capabilities to the firm’s next stage of growth. Brookfield Real Estate Group co-president Ben Brown framed the investment around the long-term buildout of infrastructure required for AI. He said AREP’s data center development capabilities align with Brookfield’s approach across digital and power sectors.
Brookfield Extends Its Data Center Exposure
The investment gives Brookfield another route into data center development without acquiring AREP outright. That structure leaves AREP operating as its own platform. It also adds a large institutional partner with infrastructure and energy experience supporting digital development.
The deal also fits Brookfield’s broader data center expansion through large-scale digital infrastructure investment. The current announcement does not disclose the size of Brookfield’s stake, purchase price, specific projects, or new development targets.
What’s Next
Closing is expected in Q4 2026, subject to customary conditions. Rothschild & Co served as AREP’s exclusive financial adviser on the transaction.
The parties will next complete the minority investment. After closing, they expect the partnership to support AREP’s continued growth across its real estate and data center platform. The announcement does not provide additional timing, capital commitments, or project-level details, leaving the scope of that expansion undefined.
