New Hub for Space Innovation
Bisnow reports developers are finalizing a Cedar Park site for a major space industry campus. The project strengthens Central Texas’s role in aerospace and defense. The Central Texas Spaceport Development Corp., backed by Cedar Park and Williamson County, is leading the effort. It will support space exploration, advanced research, and defense technology.
Project Scope and Timeline
The space industry campus, called the Central Texas Spaceport and Defense Innovation Campus, will span 115K SF across four buildings. It will include mission planning space, secure facilities, spacecraft testing areas, an education center, and offices. Developers plan to break ground on Phase I later this year. This phase includes a 20K SF secure facility. It will cost between $24.5M and $33M.

Phases and Partnerships
Phase II of the space industry campus features a 40K SF environmental test facility with an estimated cost up to $30M, while Phase III includes a 35K SF building budgeted up to $25M. The education campus, at 20K SF and up to $10M, will provide incubator suites, coworking space, and classrooms. The project is a collaboration between the CTSDC, University of Texas’ Cockrell School of Engineering, and key commercial aerospace and defense stakeholders.
Regional Impact
Momentum for the space industry is growing in Central Texas alongside public interest in space exploration and high-profile private investments. Other local initiatives include a new space-tech incubator in San Marcos and expansion of SpaceX operations in Bastrop, as rising demand for secure, mission-critical facilities continues to shape real estate needs across defense and aerospace sectors. The Cedar Park campus is positioned to bolster the region’s reputation as a hub for space industry research and innovation.
