Why Pets Remain a Leasing Priority
Foxen’s announcement comes as pet ownership continues to influence apartment choice. According to the company’s Multifamily Pet Management Trends Report, 93% of surveyed property managers allow pets in their communities, while 94% say renters place a high value on being able to live with their pets. Those trends have pushed operators to look beyond simply allowing animals and toward offering services that support pet owners throughout the resident lifecycle.
The Details
Through the partnership, eligible residents completing a PetClear application can receive a 5% discount on new Healthy Paws pet insurance policies. Coverage includes new accidents and illnesses, emergency care, cancer treatment, and hereditary and congenital conditions. The offering is presented within the PetClear application, allowing renters to review and purchase coverage while completing pet documentation during leasing. The discount applies only to new policies and is unavailable in California, Hawaii, Minnesota, New York, Tennessee, and Washington.
A Broader Resident Experience Play
Rather than creating a standalone insurance product, Foxen is embedding another service into an operational platform already used by multifamily owners and operators. PetClear collects and verifies pet information while standardizing pet-related documentation, helping property teams maintain consistent compliance processes. By layering optional insurance into that workflow, Foxen is positioning the platform as both an operational tool for owners and a value-added amenity for renters.
Why It Matters
Competition for renters continues to push apartment operators toward amenities that differentiate communities without increasing on-site workload. Integrating services such as pet insurance into existing leasing technology can enhance the resident experience while supporting operational efficiency. As pet ownership remains widespread among renters, offerings that simplify pet-related compliance and provide financial protection may become another way for operators to strengthen resident retention and satisfaction.
What’s Next
Foxen plans to make the Healthy Paws offering available through PetClear for eligible renters completing the application process and is encouraging operators to adopt the integrated solution. As multifamily technology platforms continue to expand beyond compliance into resident benefits, additional embedded financial and lifestyle services could become a larger part of the digital leasing experience.
