Ambitious Project Breaks Ground
StarLocal Media reports that the City of Frisco has officially started construction on its long-planned Grand Park. The project spans 1,011 acres and will exceed the size of Central Park.
The park has remained in planning for nearly two decades. Now, the city aims to turn it into a signature destination for residents and visitors. It will sit strategically between Dallas North Tollway and FM 423, enhancing access and visibility.
Amenity-Rich Future
Grand Park Frisco will rise as a multi-phase green space anchored by major amenities. The plan centers on scale, access, and long-term community use. The development will feature a 7,500-seat amphitheater and more than 20 miles of trails. It will also include multiple playgrounds, a nature center, a three-acre lake, and botanical gardens. Phase 1, known as Civic Park, will span about 68 acres. Developers expect completion in 2027, backed by roughly $43M in investment.

Long-Term Vision and Community Value
City leaders and Play Frisco board members described the park as a cornerstone of the local park system. They designed it to ease pressure on existing parks while creating long-term value for the community. The plan divides the park into five sections developed over multiple decades. This approach aligns with broader momentum across North Texas, where rapid population and job expansion continue to drive investment in infrastructure and public amenities. Each future phase will add to a balanced and connected park system.
What’s Next
Planning is already underway for Phase 2 and beyond. City officials anticipate Grand Park Frisco will redefine the area’s recreation landscape, providing both new community amenities and boosting the city’s mixed-use profile for years to come.
