Frisco’s 1,000+ Acre Grand Park Breaks Ground After Decades in the Making

A generational project is underway in Frisco, with a massive park poised to reshape the city’s identity and growth.
By the numbers: Grand Park will span 1,011 acres—larger than Central Park—and stretch from the Dallas North Tollway to FM 423. Phase 1 (Civic Park) is expected to cost about $43M and open in 2027, covering roughly 58–68 acres.
What’s planned: The park is designed as a large-scale community hub, featuring a 7,500-seat amphitheater, a 3-acre lake, botanical gardens, a 39-acre play zone, and more than 20 miles of trails. Additional amenities include pickleball and volleyball courts, playgrounds, a nature center, splash pads, and kayak-friendly water features.
A long road to groundbreaking: First envisioned over 20 years ago and backed by a 2006 bond election, the project faced delays due to environmental remediation from a former battery recycling plant on-site. Cleanup—supported by $24M in state funding—cleared the way for development to finally begin.
More than a park: City leaders are framing Grand Park as a “cornerstone project” that will relieve pressure on existing parks, expand recreational capacity, and serve as a connected, future-ready system for residents and visitors. Officials also emphasized that development will unfold over decades, with multiple phases shaped by future city leadership.
➥ THE TAKEAWAY
Growth catalyst: Grand Park shows how long-term civic investment can drive growth, boost quality of life, and lift surrounding real estate values while shaping a city’s identity.
