- Embraer has broken ground on a $70M aircraft maintenance and repair facility at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, boosting US capacity by 53% upon completion in 2027.
- The expansion is part of a broader $500M US investment across Texas and Florida, positioning Embraer closer to key airline clients like American Airlines.
- The project benefits from local incentives and coincides with Fort Worth’s rising profile as a hub for aerospace and defense industries.
A Strategic US Expansion
Embraer began building a new maintenance hangar at AllianceTexas, a 27K-acre Hillwood-led development in North Fort Worth, reports Bisnow. The hangar will hold up to five next-gen E-Jet E2 aircraft, expanding Embraer’s service capacity in the US.
This comes on the heels of Embraer converting an existing building at the site into a maintenance hangar earlier this year. Together, these moves mark a significant step in the company’s US growth strategy.
Ties To Major Clients
The proximity to American Airlines — headquartered in Fort Worth — is no accident. The airline placed a major order for 90 Embraer E175 jets last year, with an option to expand to 133. Delta, United, and Alaska Airlines are also among Embraer’s key US customers.
Fort Worth is sweetening the deal as well, offering $1.2M in tax abatements over seven years to support the project.

Defense Opportunity On The Horizon
Beyond commercial aviation, Embraer is pursuing a potential US Air Force contract for air-to-air refueling services using its tactical cargo aircraft platform. If awarded, the contract could create up to 1,200 new US jobs — possibly enhancing Fort Worth’s growing aerospace ecosystem.
Mayor Mattie Parker highlighted the city’s skilled workforce and pro-business environment as reasons companies like Embraer continue to invest locally.
A Regional Aerospace Hub
Embraer’s move is part of a broader aerospace boom in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
- MTU Maintenance, a German engine services firm, signed a 30-year lease this summer at Alliance and plans to invest $120M into its facility and create 1,200 jobs.
- GE Aerospace is also expanding near DFW Airport and backing a $30M workforce training initiative with Tarrant County College aimed at preparing 10K skilled workers.
More Than Aerospace
AllianceTexas is also attracting diverse industries. Taiwanese tech giant Wistron InfoComm is investing $761M in two facilities to produce components for Nvidia supercomputers. Meanwhile, Taylor Sheridan’s SGS Studios, in partnership with Paramount Television, recently opened a 450K SF production campus and has plans for additional soundstage space.
Why It Matters
Embraer’s investment signals growing confidence in the Fort Worth region as a hub for both commercial and defense aviation. As US carriers expand fleets and federal defense contracts loom, the AllianceTexas development is emerging as a strategic anchor for aerospace growth.
With Fort Worth named Texas’ aviation and defense capital, more global aerospace companies are likely to follow Embraer’s lead.
